Tyknit for circles
The treasurer’s notebook, made public.
Tyknit is a chama, stokvel and susu management app built around one rule: every member can see the ledger, and nobody can edit it. Contributions post from M-Pesa and bank rails, arrears follow the constitution, and every decision about a person is a secret ballot.
Free for founding circles · Tyknit never holds your money

What the treasurer gets
A ledger no one can quietly edit
Every contribution, payout and fee is an entry with a date, a member, a rail reference and who recorded it. Corrections are reversing entries in plain view. Every member can open the ledger at any time — the treasurer is never the only witness.
Contributions post themselves
Members pay the circle on its own rails — an M-Pesa paybill, a bank transfer, cards through Paystack, UPI, Pix, SEPA — and the entry lands in the ledger when the provider confirms it. Cash at the table is recorded in front of everyone before the meeting closes. Tyknit never holds the money.
Arrears handled by the constitution
Reminders go out on the schedule your circle wrote down — 7, 30 and 60 days — to everyone, including officers. The arrears list is part of the monthly report, so the awkward conversation is about a fact, not a feeling.
Secret ballots, always
Admissions, removals, payouts above the threshold and amendments go to a ballot that is secret by construction. Officers see the result; nobody sees who voted how.
Monthly report in one tap
Opening balance, contributions in, payments out with who approved them, fees, closing balance, statement balance. The same shape every month, read into the minutes, findable by every member.
Constitution templates per tradition
Merry-go-round or investment chama, grocery or burial stokvel, susu rotation, tanda with numbered draws — start from a template that already knows the rules, then edit it. Tyknit enforces it within platform floors: fair admission, secret ballots, no lending inside the app.
Officers with separated powers
The treasurer records; the chair and a second signatory approve; the secretary minutes. Nobody can move money and be the only person who knows it moved.
A skills directory and asks
Members list what they do and what they need. Referrals come from people who will vouch for you; asks for help have clear terms and a record of who showed up.

Merry-go-round or investment. M-Pesa paybill contributions, harambee-style asks, and a report the KAIG would recognise.

Numbered draws, a visible rotation, and a sponsor who answers for a newcomer. Cash, mobile money or bank — the record is the same.

Joining, participating, the ledger, ballots, chat and asks are free forever. A circle — never a member — can add a plan for reports, automated reminders, SMS and document storage when it wants them; founding circles are on Tyknit free while the product is shaped around them. On provider-settled contributions Tyknit keeps at most 0.75%, shown in the treasurer’s settings, and nothing on medical, bereavement or emergency campaigns. Full detail in the FAQ and Terms.
