Terms of Service
Effective 21 August 2026 · Tyknit is operated by Eagmark (“we”, “us”).
1. What Tyknit is
Tyknit is software for circles — chamas, stokvels, susus, giving circles, alumni funds — to govern themselves, keep a shared ledger, and show up for one another. Tyknit is the ledger and the meeting place. Tyknit never holds your money. Contributions move on the rails you choose (M-Pesa, cards via our payment partner, bank transfer, Venmo, Zelle, Pix, UPI, SEPA, cash) directly between members and the circle.
2. Free forever
Joining a circle, participating, asking for help, receiving help, introductions, vouching and chat are free — forever. We do not charge people for belonging. We do not sell relationships, trust or stories.
3. Circle plans and billing
A circle (never an individual member) may subscribe to a paid plan for extra infrastructure — reports, reminders, storage, SMS. Plans are billed per circle, monthly or annually, in the currency shown at checkout, through Paystack. Prices are shown before you pay. A plan renews only when the circle chooses to pay again; we send reminders 7 days and 1 day before a period ends, keep every feature for a 7-day grace period after it ends, and then return the circle to Tyknit Free. Nothing is deleted when a plan lapses.
4. Refunds
If a plan payment was made in error, or the plan did not deliver what it promised, write to the address below within 14 days of payment and we will refund it in full. After 14 days we refund the unused portion of an annual plan on request. Refunds go back to the original payment method through our payment partner and can take 5–10 business days to appear. Contributions between members and their circle are not Tyknit payments and cannot be refunded by us — speak to your treasurer.
5. Contributions and the ledger
When a member pays a circle through Tyknit’s “Pay the circle” flow, the money goes to the circle’s own account (a settlement account the circle controls, or the treasurer’s account on the chosen rail). Tyknit records the payment when the provider or the treasurer’s bank feed confirms it, or when the treasurer confirms it by hand. For provider-settled contributions Tyknit retains a platform fee of at most 0.75%, shown in the treasurer’s settings and never applied to emergency, medical or bereavement campaigns. The ledger is append-only: corrections are made by reversing entries, never by deletion.
6. Your circle governs itself
Admission, standing, removals and amendments follow your circle’s constitution, which Tyknit enforces within platform floors (fair admission thresholds, secret ballots, no lending inside the app). Platform staff never read circle chat, asks, ballots or status updates; they see aggregates and act only on reports, safety, deletions and billing.
7. Accounts and conduct
You must be 18 or older. Keep your sign-in to yourself. Do not use Tyknit to exploit a circle, to harass, to launder money, or to run lending or gambling schemes. We may suspend an account or a circle that does, with notice to its members.
8. Deleting your account
You can request deletion from Settings → Your data. Within 30 days your personal data is removed and your name in circles becomes “Former member”; the circle’s ledger and history remain coherent. See the Privacy Policy.
9. Liability
Tyknit is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from a circle’s own decisions, from payment rails we do not operate, or from indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for a paid plan is limited to the amount that circle paid us in the preceding 12 months.
10. Changes and contact
We will tell circles about material changes 30 days in advance through the app. Questions, refunds and disputes: support@tyknit.net or our contact page. These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya.
